ResCare Premier Texas awarded three-year CARF accreditation

San Marcos, Texas, August 10, 2006 – CARF announced that ResCare Premier Texas has been accredited for a period of three years for its Brain Injury Long-Term Residential Services (Adults) and Brain Injury Residential Rehabilitation Programs (Adults). This represents the highest level of accreditation awarded by The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF), the nation’s accreditation authority in the fields of medical rehabilitation, behavioral health, employment and community support services.

Ruth Estes, Ph.D., Director of Operations for ResCare Premier Texas stated, “We are very proud of this accomplishment.  It is an indication of ResCare Premier Texas’ dedication and commitment to improving the quality of lives of our participants.  We are especially proud of the commendation given for our positive behavior management programs and of the recognition given for the continuum of care we are able to provide participants. ”

According to the CARF survey report, “The behavior management program is commendable. The organization has developed a reward program that encompasses positive approaches to behavior management for persons served. The program is fortunate to have a variety of settings for the different levels of care and can therefore control and modify the environment to assist persons served to succeed in their programs.”

The report continues, “The organization has well-developed criteria for the continuum of care in postacute brain injury services. The organization applies these levels of care consistently, and persons served are placed in a least restrictive environment in which they can be successful.  The decision to move from one level to another is a team decision that includes persons served and their families or guardians.”

Since opening its doors, ResCare Premier has expanded and developed programs to meet the diverse needs of individuals with acquired brain injury. As a unique group of interrelated treatment facilities, residential communities, and specialty programs located across the United States and Canada, we offer a full continuum of rehabilitation and residential services designed to meet treatment needs “from the door of the hospital to the door of the home – or any door that opens opportunity for our participants.”
