Living Services in Area 4. According to Mr. Darrell Madkins, Florida State Director for ResCare Premier, “Area 4 extends from Indian River to Broward on the east coast and from Charlotte to Collier on the west coast.” “Serving this area is the first phase in our plan to offer services in all five of the BSCIP’s areas within Florida.”
The Florida Legislature created the Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Trust Fund (“Trust”) to provide opportunities for eligible Florida residents who sustain a traumatic brain or spinal cord injury to participate in a rehabilitation program. Funds are obtained from a percentage of civil penalties, surcharges on temporary auto license tags, and driving and/or boating under the influence. These funds are appropriated to the Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program for the provision of services as a payer of last resort.
According to the BSCIP, transitional living services include rehabilitation services, community re-entry training, aids for independent living and counseling to individuals with traumatic brain and/or spinal cord injury. “We are very excited about the opportunity to provide transitional services to individuals funded by the Trust and we have begun the search for a suitable location.” says Mr. Madkins. In addition to BSCIP funding, ResCare Premier is an in-network provider for many national and regional health care insurance companies, worker compensation insurers, and on a limited basis, will enter into Security and Assignment of Proceeds Agreements.
Since opening its doors in 1989, ResCare Premier has continued to expand and develop programs to meet the diverse needs of individuals with acquired brain injury. As a unique group of interrelated treatment facilities, residential communities, and specially programs located across the United States and Canada, we offer a full continuum of rehabilitation and residential services designed to meet treatment needs “from the door of the hospital to the door of the home – or any door that opens opportunity for our participants” SM
